Primary use : Engine 231 is our "reserve engine".
Unit 231 is a 1991 Grumman Fire Panther. This unit has a 300 HP Cummins engine, Allison auto-transmission, 1250 Waterous pump, and a 750 gallon capacity water tank. On board equipment includes a 7kW generator, a four gas air monitor, 550 feet of 1¾" pre-connected hose, 200 feet of 2½" pre-connected hose, 600 feet of 3" hose, 1200 feet of 4" LDH (hydrant line), and a gas powered PPV fan. This is primarily used to vent a structure, but can also be used for personal safety in extreme heat.
